This little beauty was an exercise in extreme space management. The foremost challenge was getting all the components to fit in such a tight space and in which order they had to be installed and wired. There were many times I threatened to give it up but in the end all is well and the set operates very well. It operates on a 12vdc wall wart (included) so there are no dangerous voltages or currents to bother about.
The cabinet’s base is maple as are the sides. The top deck and the skirt on the tuning knob are of beautiful quilted maple. After careful sanding and sealing the set was stained with a mahogany tinted nitro cellulose lacquer and finished with multiple coats of satin nitro lacquer.
That big 1625 tube kind of dwarfs the radio but the fluted solid brass knobs and tube plate cap bring it all together for a very attractive piece which would make an excellent one–of–a–kind gift for any enthusiast or collector.
